Violet White Woodyard

Violet White Woodyard, 92 of Pearisburg, VA went to be with the Lord on June 18, 2015 at Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg, VA. Mrs. Woodyard was born on August 14, 1922 in Pulaski County, VA and was a daughter of the late Harrison W. and Minnie Thompson White. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, John Francis Woodyard, four brothers, David, Kellas, Wallace and J.C. White, and five sisters, Edith Kitts, Lucille Warner, Reba Myers, Gladys Stephens and Glenna W. Fanning. Mrs. Woodyard was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pearisburg, a member of the Ann Hoilman Sunday School Class and was a retired employee from the Celanese Plant in Narrows, VA. She is survived by two sons, Gary (Sue B.) Woodyard of Goldsboro, NC, Denny H. Woodyard of Myrtle Beach, SC, four grandchildren, Jennifer Stevens, Katherine Pearson, Andrew and Matthew Woodyard and one great grandson, Benjamin Stevens, one great granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Stevens, one sister, Erma (Hensil) Underwood of Dublin, one sister-in-law, Virginia White, one brother-in-law, Paul Myers of Roanoke and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 2:00pm at the First United Methodist Church in Pearisburg with the Rev Dr Brian Burch and Rev Dr Fred L. Austin officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the church 1 hour before the service from 1 – 2 pm.
