Phyllis Jean Journell Dennis

Phyllis Jean Journell Dennis, 77 of Pearisburg, VA went to be with the Lord on July 16, 2018 at Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg. Phyllis was born on August 17, 1940 in Pearisburg and was a daughter of the late Roy Alvin Journell and Margaret Marie Bales Journell. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Don Journell. Phyllis grew up in Wilburn Valley, she was graduate of Pearisburg High School (Red Devils), was of the Christian faith and was a member of Riverview Baptist Church in Ripplemead. She loved her family, reading, writing poetry, flowers, all of God’s natural creations and was an excellent seamstress. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Theodore Curtis Dennis of Pearisburg, three sons, Timothy A. Dennis of Pearisburg, Todd E. Dennis & Shabana Shah of Fiji, Troy W. Dennis of Pearisburg, one granddaughter, Sarah T. Dennis, three brothers, Bernard Journell (June) of Narrows, Roger Journell of Roanoke, Larry Journell (Margie) of Pearisburg, three sisters, Dorothy J. Spangler of Roanoke, Diane J. Miles (Robert) of Pearisburg, Geraldine J. Torray of Potomac, MD, three sisters-in-law, Bonnie D. Spangler (David), Linda D. Meadows (Tony), Susie D. Journell and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, July 19, 2018 at 12 pm at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg with Pastor Shahn Wilburn officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg.
