Nancy McCormick Martin, 83 of Pearisburg, VA went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Blacksburg, VA. She was born on September 4, 1930 in Waiteville, WV and was a daughter of the late Edward Howard McCormick and Mattie Surface McCormick. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Garnet Earl Martin, one sister, Sarita McCormick Steele, two brothers, Elzie McCormick and James McCormick. She was a former employee of the Celanese Corp. in Narrows, Wades in Pearisburg and The Clothes Hanger in Pearisburg. She was a member of the Pearisburg First United Methodist Church, a member of the choir and was a past president of the United Methodist Women. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Diana Martin Clark and husband Dale of Riner, one son and daughter-in-law, Richie and Penny Martin of Pearisburg, five grandchildren, Rev Sarah Martin Slack and husband David, Jennifer Clark Trotter and husband Tommy, Aaron Martin and wife Lauren, Brad Clark and wife Jessica and Nikki Martin, four great grandchildren, Tatum and Tyson Trotter and Rachael and Ruth Ann Slack, three sisters, Ella M. Dillon, Eva M. Proffitt, Linda M. Buckland, two brothers, Paul A. McCormick and Ronnie W. McCormick and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, June 16, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Pearisburg at 11:00 am with the Rev. Dr. Fred L. Austin officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the Church two hours before the service from 9 – 11am. Memorial contribution may be made to the Pearisburg First United Methodist Church bereavement fund or the Good Samaritan Hospice in Christiansburg, VA.
