Melvin Lonzo Williams, Sr., 82 of Pearisburg, VA., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family. Melvin was born on October 2, 1943, in Pembroke, VA. and was a son of the late Ray Williams and Geneva Bishop. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 grandson, Issac Saunders, 1sister, Thelma Williams and 1 brother, Raymond Williams.
Melvin was born and raised in Pembroke, VA. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a retired employee of the Celanese Corp. in Narrows. Melvin was a loving father and grandfather to his family and to his extended family and to anybody he met.
He is survived by his wife, Neal Williams of 59 years, of Pearisburg, 3 daughters, Lisa Saunders (Gerald) of Radford, Vicki Meadows of Pearisburg, Pamela Gulley (Carlos) of Christiansburg, 1 son, Melvin L. Williams, Jr. (Tijuanna) of Christiansburg, 9 grandchildren, Jasmine Anderson, Diamond Meadows, Raymond and Deymond Williams, Cole Meadows, Alia Saunders, Jianna Saunders, Joshua Williams, CJ Gulley and one great grandchild on the way, 4 brothers Ervin Williams (Alfreda) of Charleston, WV, Michael Williams of Pembroke, Larry Williams of Pembroke, Danny Williams (Missy) Pearisburg and special relatives and friends, Rachael Rozzel, Reda King, Teresa Houston, Douglas Hargro, Warren Williams (Rhonda), Chris Williams (Tonya), Bendy Shrader (David), Mary Carol and Janet Dickerson.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, August 6, 2026, at 12pm at the First Baptist Church in Pearisburg with the Rev. Michael Bratton, the Rev. Barbara Johnson, the Rev. Kay Dickerson, the Rev. Jenene Lewis and the Rev. Douglas Hargro officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the church 1 hour before the service from 11 – 12pm.
