Mary Margaret Stafford, 101 of Pearisburg, VA went to be with the Lord on December 31, 2014 at Heritage Hall Rich Creek Nursing Home. Mrs. Stafford was born on January 12, 1913 in Williamson, WV and was a daughter of the late George Oakley Stafford and Ada A. McComas Stafford. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Paul Dills Stafford, Sr. and four brothers, Maynard, Garnett, Ray, George Oakley Stafford, Jr. and three sisters, Pearl Mae Stafford, Helen S. Straley and Dorothy S. Mustard. Mrs. Stafford was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pearisburg and was a charter member and past Worthy Matron of Pearis Chapter #124 Order of the Eastern Star. She was a employee of Witten’s Savoy Shop, Fashion Shop, the Radford Army Ammunition Plant, was a Giles County Deputy Sheriff, and was an employee of the Agency on Ageing. She is survived by one son, Paul D. Stafford, Jr. and his wife Judy of Pearisburg, one daughter, Peggy S. Barnett and her husband Bobby of Pearisburg, four grandchildren, Paula Robertson and husband Joe, Barbara Tate and husband Ken, Paul D. Stafford, III, Barry D. Stafford and wife Robin and eight great grandchildren, one great great grandson and a host of nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank her church angels Betty Eads and Rita Palmer for the love they provided and the staff at Heritage Hall Rich Creek for the care they provided. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 3, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church in Pearisburg with the Rev. Dr. Brian Birch, Rev. Dr. Fred L. Austin and Pastor Shirley Larson officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at Givens Funeral Home in Pearisburg from 6 to 8 pm.
