Sonny loved spending time with his family, following the Giles High Spartans football program, rooting for the Virginia Cavaliers, listening to country music, watching game shows, eating seafood feasts, traveling to the Smoky Mountains, and winning at games of rook, croquet, miniature golf and horseshoes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Phyllis, his beloved wife of 54 years and a son-in-law, George Patterson.
