In Loving Memory of Herman Bailey Stephens STEPHENS, HERMAN BAILEY, 94, of Pearisburg, VA passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at Carilion Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg.  Mr. Stephens was born on July 28, 1914 in Honaker, VA and was a son of the late Charles Edward and Edna Johnston Stephens.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Garnett, Raymond and Joseph Stephens, two sisters, Christine McGinnis and Mae Baker.  Mr. Stephens was an Army Veteran of WWII, a retired electrician from the Celanese Plant in Narrows and was a lifelong member of the Green Valley United Methodist Church in Eggleston, VA. He is survived by his wife, Alta Skiles Stephens of Pearisburg, four sons, Glenn Stephens and wife Georgie of Wilmington, NC, Gary Stephens, Mark Stephens and wife Angie, and Keith Stephens and wife Michelle, all of Pearisburg, two daughters, Donna Collins of Pearisburg, Lois Stephens and husband Cliff Reynolds of Newport, thirteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.  Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, October 9, 2008 at 2:00 pm at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg with the Rev. Ronnie Duncan and Rev. Betty Roberts officiating with burial and military honors given by American Legion Post #68 in Narrows American Legion Post #311 and VFW Post #6000 in Narrows following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg.  The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Home Wednesday evening from 6 – 8 pm.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Green Valley UMC Building Fund, c/o Vickie Collins, 804 Curve Rd, Pearisburg, VA 24134.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at givensfuneralhome.com.
