Frank Bryan Strader, Jr., of Pearisburg, VA, joined his Heavenly Father and family July 8, 2026. After 91 years, he was ready for his eternal home. Frank was born on March 21, 1935, in Pearisburg and was a son of the late Frank Bryan Strader, Sr. and Grace Mae Swindell Strader. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Elizabeth Anne Jones Strader and 2 sisters, Barbara S. Nichols and Sarah S. Howard.
Frank had many titles, descriptions, and interests. He was a son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, friend, neighbor, UMC member and lay speaker, FFA student, Virginia Tech cadet and graduate, 1rst Lieutenant USAF radar operator, husband, father, farmer, apple and peach orchardist, Cooperative Weather Observer, BCC farm manager, representative for VA SWCC / DCR, advocate for Extension, poet, artist, inventor, engineer, musician, comedian, teacher. He was dependable, supportive, witty, intelligent, caring, creative, a problem solver and never stopped inquiring and searching for answers. We love you Daddy, Bryan & Cindy
He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Parker Strader of Pearisburg, son Frank Bryan Strader, III of Pearisburg, nieces and nephews, Susan Norris (Bobby) of Culpeper, Mary Schelin of Stafford, Sid (Betsy) Howard of Fayetteville, WV, Jim (Kemp) Anders of Fairfax, Bill (Lori) Anders of Nashville, NC, Ted (Donna) Anders of Catlett, Lynn Briel of Williamsburg, Gary Jones (Tammy) of Warner Robins, GA and Harold Jones, Jr. (Bea) of Poinciana, FL.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 18. 2026, at 2pm at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg, VA. with the Rev. Terri Gregory and Charles Henderson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 1 hour before the service from 1 – 2pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either Pleasant Hill Church, Pastor Terri Gregory or contact the Giles County Virginia Cooperative Extension Office for areas of support.
