Douglas Brewster Munsey

Douglas Brewster Munsey, 72 of Pearisburg, VA went to be with the Lord, Thursday, January 9, 2014. Doug was born on August 31, 1941 in Pearisburg, and was a son of the late John Munsey and Betty DeBoard Bales. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Eli (Moody) Bales who raised him from a very young age and one sister, Patsy Bales Stump. Doug was a Korean War Veteran serving in the United States Army Airborne. He is survived by one son Johnny Munsey of TN, three brothers, Randy Bales of Dublin, Tommy Bales and wife Lois Bales of Pearisburg, Jeffery and Chassidy Bales of Eggleston, several special nieces and nephews including Lakin S. Price and Kylie S. Williams and special friend Richard Blankenship of Pearisburg. Memorial services will be conducted Saturday evening at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg at 7:30pm with the Rev. Eddie Kendall officiating. The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Home Saturday evening from 6 – 7:30 pm.
