Dorothy Ratcliffe Slusher

In Loving Memory of Dorothy Ratcliffe Slusher DOROTHY RATCLIFFE SLUSHER 85 of Pearisburg, Va. passed away Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg.  Mrs Slusher was born on February 6, 1925 in Giles County and was a daughter of the late Lacy Len and Hazel Davis Ratcliffe.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Woodrow Wilson Slusher, one son, Randy Slusher and daughters, Mona Sue Slusher and Becky Slusher, four brothers, Jack, Vivian, Harvey and Jerry Ratcliffe and four sisters, Polly Clyburn, Fannie Meredith, Lena Fay and Patty Ratcliffe.  Dorothy spent many years babysitting many, many children.  They were her extended family.  She is survived by one son, Dusty Slusher and his wife Pat of Salem, two daughters, Mary Lou Slusher of Rich Creek, and Rosa Slusher of Pearisburg, three grandchildren, Chris, Mike and Jordan Slusher, three sisters, Mary Jane Bartley of Pearisburg, Betty Eads of Pearisburg and Martha Dunn of Pearisburg, two brothers, Lacy and John Ratcliffe of Pearisburg.  Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at 11:00 am at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg with the Rev. Allen Woodie officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg.  The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Home Monday evening from 6 – 8.  The family will gather at the home of Betty and Tom Eads at 115 Easley St. in Pearisburg.  And thanks to Patti White for always keeping her looking pretty.  Donations may be made to the Riverview Nursing Home in Rich Creek.
