In Loving Memory of Charles Robert Hartwell CHARLES ROBERT HARTWELL, 77 of Pearisburg, VA, went to be with the Lord Monday evening, October 12, 2009 at Carilion Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg. Mr. Hartwell, also known as "Haney", was born on March 3, 1932 and was a son of the late Oaky Johnson Hartwell and Margaret Linsenmyer. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Lutishia Gibson Hartwell and one sister, Gloria H. Taylor. Mr. Hartwell worked for the Giles County School System from 1963 – 1990. While teaching school, he also worked for the N & W Railroad in the rail yard in Bluefield, WV for 27 years. Mr. Hartwell was also a past member of Eggleston Masonic Lodge #309 A.F. & A.M. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law Dee Dee and Bobby Terry of Pearisburg, one step son, David W. Smith of Pearisburg, five grandchildren, Christina and her husband Gene Neice, Shalane Terry, Tim and Garrett Smith, Miranda Quesenberry and three great grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 1:00 pm with the Rev. Eddie Kendall officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 – 8 pm at the Givens Funeral Home in Pearisburg. Full military honors will be given by American Legion Post #68 in Narrows American Legion Post #311 and VFW Post #6000 in Narrows.
