Barbara Ann Morris Hobbs

Barbara Ann Morris Hobbs, 84 of Pearisburg, VA went to be with the lord Saturday, September 24, 2022, at her home surrounded by love. Barbara was born on May 20, 1938, in Pearisburg and was a daughter of the late William Vance Morris and Mary Margaret Bales Morris. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin D. Hobbs, 1 son, Keith Alan Hobbs, 1 daughter, Ann Cheryl Hobbs and 1 brother, Charles William Morris. She is survived by her son, William (Billy) Vance Hobbs (Tracey Puckett) of Pearisburg, two grandchildren, Lauryn Hobbs of Roanoke and Astleigh Hill (Pete), 3 great grandchildren, Greer, Quinn and Wells Hill, 3 sisters, Ruth Duncan (Gerald) of Blacksburg, Mary E. Byrd (Jack) of Pulaski, Beverly Glenn of Sherrard, IL and daughter-in-law, Deb Lester of Pearisburg. She enjoyed gardening, decorating her home, and cooking for family function and holidays. To all there was a favorite to be fought over, she was a master of gravies and old school cooking. Barbara was avid reader and kept abreast of all news, local, state, and world. She loved her little piece of heaven and all that surrounded it. All that set foot on her doorstep never left unloved or hungry, either two legged or 4 all were loved. Barbara took pride her community and served it faithfully until her retirement from the Board of Supervisors in 2015. She loved Giles County and dedicated herself for the rights of the citizens. She was a loving and faithful mother, warmly know as Momma Hobbs. Family was her priority. Funeral services will be held, Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at 11am at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg with Charles Henderson officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg, VA. The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Chapel 1 hour before the service from 10 - 11am.
