Allen "Pete" Russell Carden

Allen “Pete” Russell Carden, 85 of Floyd, VA., went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 12, 2025. Pete was born on February 9, 1940, in Hinton, WV., and was a son of the late Allen Green Carden and Josephine Bennett Carden. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 sisters, Mary Louise Carden, Eleanor Sue Johnson, Margaret Hope Wiseman and Anna Mae Martin.

Pete loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing when he was younger. He loved all kinds of animals, especially cats. He gave to several charities including God’s Pit Crew, Hunters for the Hungry and Feeding Southwest Virginia.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Darlene Hutchinson Carden of Floyd, sister, Mary Grace Skidmore (James), 2 nephews, Joey Skidmore and Jeremy Skidmore and Jennifer Skidmore Holestin all of Covington.

Funeral services will be conducted, Monday May 19, 2025, at 2pm at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg, VA, with the Rev. Gary Poff officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Chapel 1 hour before the service from 1 – 2pm.
