Albert Lee Mann

In Loving Memory of

Albert Lee Mann, Jr.

Albert Lee Mann, Jr., 76 of Pearisburg, VA went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 31, 2013 at Riverview Nursing Home in Rich Creek, VA. Albert was born on June 10, 1936 in Ronceverte, WV, and was a son of the late Albert Lee Mann, Sr., and Sylvia Swisher Mann. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, James Claude Mann, David Darrell Mann, and Ellis Eugene Mann. Albert was probably the most well-known person in Giles County….it seemed like everyone knew Albert and had given him a ride at least once or more in his life. Albert was a traveling man, he never had a driver’s license but that didn’t stop him from traveling far and wide. An avid Giles High School football fan, he tried to attend all the games, both at home and away. Some of his many past times were talking on C.B radios, sitting at local game check-in stations and talking to the hunters, he was an avid fisherman and loved to visit and talked to people at the local Wal-Mart in Pearisburg. He was also a proud Pearisburg High School Red Devil. Albert was a kind soul, and tried to be good to everyone he met. Giles County has truly lost an icon and he will be missed by all. For further information on Albert’s travels, go to “I have given Albert Mann a ride before” on facebook. He is survived by two sisters-in-law, Delois Mann Goodson of Fincastle, Va, and Phyllis Mann of East Bend, NC, three nephews, Steven Mann and wife Connie of Massachusetts, James Mann and Fiancée Nancy Lyons of Charlotte, NC, and Brian Mann of Pearisburg, Va, and two nieces, Brenda Mann Hammack and husband Laurence of Fayetteville, NC and Toni Mann of Christiansburg. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 11:00am at the Givens Funeral Chapel, Pearisburg with the Rev Dr. Fred L. Austin officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Home, Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 pm.
