Mary Virginia Jenkins Brock

Mary Virginia Jenkins Brock, 92, of Pearisburg , Va. , passed away early Sunday morning February 3, 2008.  She was born November 8, 1915, at Roda , Virginia .  She was the daughter of the late Isaac Harrison and Amanda Adams Jenkins.  She was preceded in death by her husband Hassel Herman Brock, brother Lyell Jenkins and sisters Wilma Bennett, Anna Mae Graves, and Thelma Robinette.  She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law James H. and Claudia Brock of Roanoke , Va. , and her daughter and son-in-law Mary Lynn and John Schubert of Midlothian , Va.   She is also survived by her grandsons Gregory Brock and wife Donna of Roanoke, Kevin Brock and wife Casey of Graham, NC, and John Brock of Roanoke , and granddaughters Kira Routh and husband Drew of Midlothian, Va., and Brenan Graham and husband Sam of Richmond, Va.  A sister Louise Duncan of Jackonsville , Fla , a brother Isaac Harrison Jenkins, Jr. of Beckley , W. Va., great-grandchildren Harrison and Lillian Brock and Sophia Routh and a beloved niece and several nephews also survive her. Virginia ’s special interests were family, church, volunteering, and gardening.  She retired from Leggett Department Stores with 18 years service, and in retirement was a volunteer with Carilion Giles Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.  She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Pearisburg, VA for 58 years and during that time was a member of the Anne Hoilman Sunday school class, the Lydia Susanna Circle, the Prayer and Share Group, and the Prime Timers.  She also taught pre-school Sunday School classes for over twenty years.  Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at 11:00am at the First United Methodist Church in Pearisburg with the Rev. Ronnie Mutter officiating with burial following at 2:30pm in the Mountain View Cemetery in Vinton, VA.  Family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 6 - 8 pm.  The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Kenneth Walker, and her caregivers, Lisa Carrington, Liz Johnston, and Venus Parker.  Those wishing to make a memorial may consider the First United Methodist Church, P.O.
