Elsie Ann "Granny Elsie" Caldwell Higgs

Elsie Ann "Granny Elsie" Caldwell Higgs, 81 Pearisburg, VA, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her family. Elsie was born on February 17, 1941, in Pembroke, VA and was a daughter of the late James Lee Caldwell and Annie Neal Hilton Caldwell. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by daughters, Teresa Neice, infant Shelia Mae Higgs, longtime companion, Robert "Bobby" Lee Neice, Sr. and brothers, Marvin Caldwell and Booke Caldwell. Elsie was a former employee of the Pearisburg Post Office and Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg. She loved to cook and was all about how the meals were prepared. Her house was always open to family and friends, and always wanted everyone to eat. She is survived by sons, Stanley Higgs (Kathy) of Pearisburg, Mark Higgs (Lee) of Narrows, Robert Lee "Robbie" Neice of Pearisburg, Richard Wayne Neice of Pearisburg, Thomas Clay Neice of Narrows, daughters, Donna Higgs (David) of Pearisburg, Diane Higgs of Rich Creek, Barbara Ann Carter of Pearisburg, Helen Marie Walters of Pearisburg, Sue Ellen Chinault of Texas, Artuis Neice of Pearisburg, sisters, Stella Kast of Pembroke, Marcella Williams of Pembroke, Brenda Carbaugh (Calvin) of Pembroke, son-in-law, Steve Neice of Pearisburg and many many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, October 17, 2022, at 2pm at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg with Pastor Kathy Higgs officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5 - 7pm. The family would like to thank 4 caregivers, Melinda Hodge, Joyce Lucas, Amber Neice and Ashley Armstrong.
