passed away Monday, July 24, 2006 at Riverview Nursing Home in Rich Creek,
VA. Mr. Blackburn was born on
August 17, 1918 in
Narrows
,
VA
and was a son of the late William Roscoe Blackburn and Lottie King Blackburn
Oberlin. Besides his parents, he
was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lucille Aust Blackburn.
Mr. Blackburn was a member of the
First
United
Methodist
Church
in Pearisburg and was a retired employee of the Celanese Corp. in
Narrows
,
VA.
He is survived by one daughter
and son-in-law, Melanie and William Musselman, Jr. of Pearisburg, one son
and daughter-in-law, Bob and Betty Alley of Carrollton, TX, 3 grandsons,
Dave Alley of Carrollton, TX, Mike Alley of Raleigh, NC and Mike Cumbee of
Pearisburg, 3 great granddaughters, one niece and one nephew.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, July 27, 2006 at 2:00pm
at the
First
United
Methodist
Church
in Pearisburg with the Rev. Ronnie Mutter officiating with burial following
in the
Birchlawn
Burial
Park
in Pearisburg. The family will
receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 – 8 pm at the Givens Funeral Home
in Pearisburg.
