, died peacefully at her home on June 19,2006. She was born on June
21,1914 at Trigg the daughter of Charles F. and Bertie Parsell Johnston.
She was preceded in death by her brother Buford W. Johnston and
half-brother Roscoe Johnston. She was united in marriage on October
10,1937 to Martin L. Stafford who preceded her in death in 1975. To this
union were born four children,
three of whom survive namely: Gary (Gay)
Stafford
and Phyllis (Charles) Gordon of Trigg and Carole Ann (Pat) Eaton of
Pearisburg. Her daughter Kaye Raynes passed on before her in 1998. She
united with the
Methodist
Church
early in life and was a member of Wesley’s
Chapel
United
Methodist
Church
. She lived a Christian life of reverence and service to God and family.
She will be remembered as a loving Mother, Grandmother and
great-grandmother to her family. She is also survived by ten grandchildren
and eighteen great-grandchildren, three nieces, two nephews and several
cousins. Her funeral will be held Friday, June 23,2006 at 2:00 PM in the
Wesley’s
Chapel
United
Methodist
Church
with the Rev. Betty Roberts officiating with entombment in the Birchlawn
Abbey, Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral
Home, Pearisburg Thursday evening from 6 to 8 PM.
