In Loving Memory ofDENNIS EDWARD RAINESRAINES, DENNIS EDWARD, 54 of Pearisburg, VA passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at Carilion Giles Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Mr. Raines was born on August 2, 1950 in Radford, VA and was a son of the late Harold E. and Betty Baker Raines. Mr. Raines was a graduate of Giles High School, an Army Veteran, was a police officer with the City of Pulaski for 10 years, then as a musician, traveled extensively in the south playing in band and as a studio musician with the likes of Conway Twitty, Merrill Haggard, George Jones, Hank Williams, Jr. and Tom Petty to name a few. He was also a member of the Ingram Village United Methodist Church in Pearisburg. He is survived by 1 son, Denny Allen Raines of Dade Co., Fl, 1 sister, Debra R. Southern of Pulaski, a special aunt that raised him and he called mom, Mable Fryer of Pearisburg and a special cousin he called brother, Marvin Fryer of Evans, GA. Funeral services will be conducted, Thursday, January 27, 2005 at 2:00pm at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg with the Rev Rick Franco with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening at the Givens Funeral Home from 6 – 8 pm.
